About Me

Hi! I’m Belinda. I’m a bakery owner, small business entrepreneur, and obsessive traveller; three traits that don’t always blend too seamlessly. Brick & mortar bakeries do not fit easily in a backpack, so unlike the herds of digital nomads roaming the globe today, I’ve had to adapt my gypsy ways. Throw in a husband whose work schedule is the exact opposite of mine, and a daughter with her own hopes and dreams, and you have the wonderful, yet awkward dance that is my life.

This blog, however, is not really about me. (Though I’m happy to share a few opinions!) This blog is about people like me, who work hard every day to bring the world delicious, handmade pastries. People still searching for help and answers in an industry with impossibly tight margins and horrible wages. People looking for inspiration, a glimpse around the globe, a peek behind the scenes of those who have gone before them and made it work.

When I opened my bakery 15 years ago, I made every mistake in the book and had no one to turn to for answers. I had no experience (business or baking … don’t ask!) and as a traveller, there were points where I felt like I’d constructed my own prison and couldn’t escape. My hope is that by reading the stories of others in the same dilemma, we will find answers together.

My crazy family.
